Kitchen Designer-CAD Detailer-Project Manager

Montage Group works on a wide range of projects, from affordable to high-end kitchens, commercial fit-outs, wardrobes, laundries, reception desks, and other custom cabinetry. We’re looking for a practical, hands-on person with CAD drawing experience (ideally Microvellum) and cabinetmaking or joinery experience to join our team. The role involves working closely with our design and sales team to solve complex challenges on unique projects, such as creating detailed drawings, designing complex components, and calculating labour and costs for custom joinery. You’ll be the go-to expert for CAD support, while also managing projects like commercial fit-outs or complex kitchens, including site measures and liaising with builders, project managers, and our production team. At times, the role may also involve client consultations, preparing quotes, and drawing sales plans, or focusing on CAD detailing and production drawings, always with the aim of supporting our designers and ensuring projects run smoothly.

About the role:

This may include:

  • Project management and site measures
  • Communicating clearly with builders and clients and our team internally
  • Providing support for our design team. Responding to technical questions, checking plans/pricing for complex jobs, upskilling designers who are lacking technical cabinetmaking experience.
  • Drawing kitchens and cabinetry using Microvellum (AutoCAD software)
  • Meeting with clients at our showroom or in their homes/businesses
  • Helping clients define project briefs, budgets, and design choices
  • Researching technical details of products and expanding your knowledge
  • Preparing accurate quotes and spec sheets
  • This role could also suit someone who does CAD detailing (potentially replacing the quoting/consult aspects with CAD detailing / site measures and in-house support for our design team.)

What you’ll need:

  • CAD drawing experience (Microvellum preferred, but AutoCAD is fine)
  • Solid computer skills – email, spreadsheets, order forms
  • A good understanding of cabinetry (preference would be a qualified Joiner/cabinet maker)
  • A good understanding of products and materials.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Full driver licence
